A top-notch East Coast DIPA with piney, resinous, bitter, and spicy hops, apple, honeydew, stone fruit, cookie dough, caramel, cotton candy, and some alcoholic warmth. One of the few U.S. extreme ales that I would describe as balanced. Right up there with Double Simcoe and 90 Minute IMHO. Great to see this nectar at the LCBO.
I agree. Really balanced and really drinkable.

Did the brewery ever get sold? Seems LCBO distribution has been ramped up.
It was on Kijiji for $650,000, but no longer is listed.

Last May/June maybe. I think there was a thread on here about it.

Having a Thomas Hardy Ale 2006. It's getting really nice. Funny this after the Utopias last night, both have some fortified wine-like flavors.

:(

I miss the Thomas Hardy - wish it was still around.

Right now drinking a can, that I found from my last Quebec haul - IPA from Archibald brewery. It's really just a pale ale, I think, and the hops are a little faded, but boy, cans do a lot to preserve the hops! It's still not bad.

Just tried one of my bottles of the Armand'4 Zomer. Easily the most complex geueze I have ever tried. Can't wait to try another bottle in 10 years. :)

Westmalle Tripel. Super boozy. Is this something that would mellow with a bit of age? I prefer the Affligem Tripel for its fruitier, citrusy flavours. The Westmalle seems dominated by an alcohol burn/warming, with only a hint of the fruitiness I like in tripels.

Drinking a Wells IPA. This isn't even a good English Bitter, and it's way more of an English Bitter than an IPA.

Cheers,
Rick.

Trafalgar India Ink. I've never been offended by a Trafalgar product, but these guys exemplify mediocrity. No real complexity or inspiration in any of their brews.
