To my surprise I found it pretty underwhelming. I got most of what the label advertises - biscuity malts, spicy rye notes, fruity yeastiness - but to me the different elements just didn't come together. I didn't pick up any "citrus hop character" and, considering the style, it wasn't particularly dry. Basically drank like a malty ho-hum Belgian strong with a little bit of spiciness. That said I shared the bottle with Aaron (adventures_alc) and he loved it, so different strokes I suppose.TheSevenDuffs wrote: What did you think? One of the best saisons I've had.

Interesting. As with most beers, different strokes (as you said).cratez wrote:To my surprise I found it pretty underwhelming. Beau's Dubbel Koyt (Gruit)
Nickel Brook Naughty Neighbor
Now a He'brew JewBellation 16 - a ridiculously strong dark ASA that seems like a stout on steriods. You could surely age this. Goes well with pepperoni-bacon pizza... and whatever I'm eating tomorrow, possibly a spinach-garlic-shrimp pasta.

In Beerum Veritas
maybe you had an old bottle? And that why there wasn't much citrus/hops?
I have a bottle of Saison Rue here, and as far as I can tell they don't date their bottles

Bellwoods Roman Candle. Very very good. Put a tick in the "Bellwoods is awesome" category. Better, I thought, than Witchshark (had them side by side).

every time i try Witchshark i am less impressed though, its a great IIPA, but i wouldnt call it a stellar by American styles, but for a well rounded balanced beer it hits all marks. just wish it had a bit more hop dominance in the flavour
