Tried my bottle on Sunday and I felt the same way.
I think that's just the way it tastes. I had a bottle a while back that I got in a trade with someone in BC and I couldn't believe how bland it was considering the ratings that the locals had given it...
I had it a couple of times (even on-cask) & never reviewed it because I didn't think it was right. Then I had a good bottle:

Since then I've had a couple more, which I'd definitely rank under a 4.0. YMMV.

This beer never lasts and the keg blows in under five minutes.

Pumpkin flavor in ales is great, so bring it on in a summer beer.

LOL yep the name caught my eye and I was happy to find it's a really awesome flavoured saison.

Pilsner Urquell fresh on tap at The Red House, definitely very good and definitely not the exact same beer PU was in the 1990's.

Münchner Hofbräu Weissbier, a surprisingly perfect example of Weisse especially from the bottle. This will be my summer go-to given that we never see Franziskaner up here, and I love the stuff.

At Beer Bistro:

Victory Yakima Glory black ipa (very good example of the style, both flavours of stout & ipa combined).

Duchesse De Bourgogne flanders ale (excellent, better than I remember the last time I had it... too long ago).

Unibroue Ephemere Cerise cherry ale (maybe the 1st disappointment I've had from Unibroue; it's OK, while everything else I've had from that brewery is very good to excellent. It's definitely no Quelque Chose. Glad I tried the draught version, but in no rush to again, will see if the bottled version now in LCBOs is any better).

On this humid night:

Upright Brewing Flora Rustica, every time I have this I wish it were available more easily, one of the best saisons out there

Founders Centennial

Homebrewed old ale, that keeps reminding me of Great Lakes 999, a tasty little treat.

By a quick look a lot of people find it far inferior to the apple - and I will say the cassis is also very good. Maybe cerise needs some tweaking? I have found these Ephemere only seem to get better, whether they actually make them better or, quite possibly, I just like them better.

I think cherry also can just be a difficult beer flavor to not seem fake or seem like cough syrup.
