cratez wrote: Yep, context can influence our perception of beer. In my case, I was dying for a beer of any quality after packing boxes for most of the day and spending way too much time in traffic due to Taste of the Danforth. And I'm sure anything cold and carbonated would've tasted FANTASTIC after biking that long. Or maybe we're all just ignorant to the fact that Moosehead and Keith's are world class beers.
Keith's being available on a hot day is what got me drinking beer. Before this event, I couldn't even choke down a beer just to go along with everyone else. I arrived at a party after having walked several km with an armload of stuff, and Keith's is what they had. Damn that tasted good, and since then I was able to drink even pretty bad beer if it was necessary.

At the Ottawa beer week festival...

Beau's Mr. Hyde (cask)
Beau's Spruce Moose
Beyond The Pale Bru
Beyond The Pale Party Animal (cask)
Beyond The Pale Tamed Angry Orchid
Flying Monkeys Orangemungus
Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard (cask)
Nickel Brook Green Light Berliner Weiss
Nickel Brook Immodest

At home...

Dunham Leo's Early Breakfast IPA

Tried nowhere near what I wanted to, but I gotta work early tomorrow morning so I tried to be somewhat responsible. Nice little setup for the festival, kicked the Winterbrewed festivals ass that's for sure. Lots of stuff we don't see in Ottawa, and a whole pile of offerings on cask. Very reasonable prices also. The Beyond The Pale cask wheel was awesome. $1 for a 4oz cask pour even if I don't get to pick which one, yes please. The Nickel Brook stuff was awesome. Bolshevik and Immodest shows up here from time to time but I've never gotten around to it. As someone who didn't care much for them before, they have a new fan.

Good time to crack this one open? Have one collecting some age in the cellar.
