Twice as Mad Tom... available in BC now!
The regular Mad Tom is rather assertive and I expected this bigger one to be even more brash, but it isn't. I don't know if they used low-cohumulone hops or if it's just the malt balance, but this one is very drinkable.
I like the regular for its assertive punch, but I like this one for its extreme balance. Well done.

Over the weekend:
Timothy Taylor Landlord. Just arrived in Alberta. Lovely, fresh bottles of this world class English strong pale ale. Had to clear the shelf in one liquor store! I am now very, very happy
Brouwerij Boon Oude Gueze.
Boulevard Saison-Brett 2012.
Samuel Smith Taddy Porter.
Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break. What a huge, flavourful, delicious beer.
Port Brewing Old Viscosity - 2 years old and still a little boozy. Should have kept it a little longer

Yesterday at the Empire State Building and Ginger Man:
Heartland Indiana Pale Ale (draught)
Victory Festbier (draught)
Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA (draught)
Peak Organic Fresh Cut Pilsner (draught)
The Peak and Southampton are the best lagers I've had besides Victory Prima. It's amazing what some of the U.S. crafters can do with German hops.

Rounding out our Boston/NYC trip at Spuyten Duyvil, Barcade, and Empire Brewing Company:
Napar Hopdoom Imperial IPA (draught)
Carton Something Like Sandy (draught)
Port Jeff Fresh Hop Ale (sample)
Sixpoint Mad Scientist Series Graetzer (draught)
Cape Ann Fisherman’s Pick Ale (cask)
Empire Hop Harvest (draught)
Empire India Pale Ale (draught)
Anyone else find Spuyten to be a ridiculously obnoxious, expensive, and overrated hipster den from hell? By contrast the Barcade folks were much more down to earth and the tap list was very diverse. Had a delicious sour stout, a pale smoked wheat, and a cucumber-infused blonde while blasting away outlaws with a sawed-off shotgun. A great escape from the suffocating pretension of the other place and an awesome end to our vacation.
