I couldn't even get that far. It could be a good beer if it wasn't the sweetest thing on the planet.J343MY wrote:Nøgne Ø Sunturnbrew. I really tried, but I could only make it through a quarter of the bottle before giving up.
Having a Great Lakes Blackout Stout, will follow with a can of Westbrook IPA
A shark on whisky is mighty risky. A shark on beer is a beer engineer.

Ah boy. I knew I probably shouldn't have bought a bottle.J343MY wrote:Nøgne Ø Sunturnbrew. I really tried, but I could only make it through a quarter of the bottle before giving up.
Of the 3 Nøgne Ø brews I have tried there was only one that just "ok".
I may just have to send this off as an extra or give it away. F.
Or I will jump on the grenade and report back with my injuries.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro on draft last night at L'il Baci on Yonge. I've never had it as fresh as this, it had a rounded, sweet malt taste with good hoppy backing, almost-craft like in its freshness and savour.
It is a real pleasure to taste an established European beer as it is meant to be rather than the much lesser experience so often delivered whether in bottle, can or on draft.

I think you should drink it. Look at it as a challenge. If you make it through the whole bottle, you win.FEUO wrote:Ah boy. I knew I probably shouldn't have bought a bottle.J343MY wrote:Nøgne Ø Sunturnbrew. I really tried, but I could only make it through a quarter of the bottle before giving up.

I normally love Nøgne Ø, but Sunturnbrew is awful. I've been given samples on a few different occassions, and I always struggle to finish it.
I presented it at a paid tasting event back in May. Wish I could remember all my witty comments (probably something about sugar coated burnt bandaids), but I spoke about it for 10 minutes while holding the sample, and never actually took a sip... I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It scored dead last amongst the 50 people in attendance.
