LA is probably one of the worst states from a beer distribution standpoint. I was there a few years ago and visited Crescent City as well. I enjoyed their stuff.

Denison's Weissbier (canned as sold by LCBO). Creemore Bock draft at Six Pints. Hops & Bolts IPL at Six Pints. All fresh with excellent flavours. The bock seems at a peak, had it a couple of times over the winter and it is rounded, rich and candied, similar to bock I had in Germany a few years ago. The Denison's is as good or better than the wheat beers on that trip.

A few days ago at Bar Hop, Oast Sochi Imperial Stout aged in an ice wine barrel. Thin-bodied, tasted like a regular dry Irish stout just stronger. The ice wine effect was great but the beer needs to be richer, IMO.

Prairie has quickly become a top 5 brewery of mine. Their saisons (as you tried above) are fantastic. Their stouts are amazing too. I haven't tried 'Merica yet but I hear great things about it.

If you come across Bomb! or any of the Noir series, I highly recommend picking them up.

+1, and dont skip Standard, their cheapest and most wonderful blonde ale... highly reminiscent of Russian River Redemption!

Been drinking wine more than beer recently, but today I cracked open a year old

Le Temps Noir by Half Pints. This is still, hands down, one of the best barrel aged beers I've drank.....and it's Canadian!!!

Dominus Vobiscum Saison - puffy Orval-like head offers citrus, super nice dry/off-dry Saison with spicy phenols, some sharp bretty funk, long pale fruit and lingering hop dryness over the finish. Class act!!

Good to be aging bottles to try 'fading' the sweetness a little, bring out the haunting subtle flavors.

Agreed on all accounts. Shared a bottle on the weekend, still drinking like a champ. I have one more bottle left.

Still remember my first sample, I had to immediately text Rudge the following, "really disappointed with Le Temps Noir, not sure how you screwed it up so badly. Can I get some more?"

I have several merica if you needed one.

On the way to indy, will be hitting a couple local pubs tonight if our timing is right.

I was able to get a take home bottle of Bomb! at Jester King last month. Also had Prairie Noir on tap at a sausage joint in downtown Austin... definitely worth the hype!

2009 Cascade Bourbonic Plague, 12% sour ale - might be one of the best beers I've had in a while, hints of spice still and vanilla, dark fruits with heavy dashes of cherry, light roasted malts, dry finish, drinkable at that weight. Yum.

Followed by a home-brewed chai stout that pales in comparison...
