I had to pour out my Neustadt Scottish Pale Ale earlier tonight. It's always a risk buying that one for me, and this time was the worst experience I've had so far. Looked like it was unfiltered, smelled bizarre, and the flavour was absolutely awful, like sweet wet metal/dog. Weird. I hate how delicate this otherwise good beer is. The can I bought was even from the cooler section of the store this time.
That's too bad. I hope you followed it up with something good. The only real drainpout I had was Muskoka Cream Ale. It was pretty much skunk central. Reminded me of the daytrip we took to Amsterdam in first year f university...JesseM wrote:I had to pour out my Neustadt Scottish Pale Ale earlier tonight. I'm now drinking another Tree beer - Spy Porter - while working on an oil painting. Its got a nice coffee character and a dose of smoke. I've liked all the tree beers I've come across so far. I hear they're doing some pretty cool big brews, and hopefully I'll get my hands on them one day.

Tonight,
started off with a black russian early in the day..........
...............about dinner time, opened a Leon Beyer Pinot Gris.....
Dry as all get out, puckering as raw lemon with nice straw and orange accents. Lemons carry to the middle.....almost sweet nutty notes come towards the end. A good gris for the price point to be sure.
On to after the meal.....A bomber of la fin du monde.......this will soon be not available in most LCBO stores according to my contacts, so I enjoy now while I can. I love the topical fruit and pear contingent with the yeasty funk, alongsise bittering hops. A real bargian at under $6.00 a bottle.
