I decided it was time to crack into my latest trading haul, so I'm currently drinking a Beacon IPA from Lighthouse Brewing in Victoria. Its in the English style, but with a bit of a Pacific North-West twist. I'm getting orange pith, big toasty malts, earth and fruit. Its really quite well done, and the sort of beer thats nice to have in the fridge as a counterpoint to more aggressive brews (kind of lke an Anchor Steam or a Rogue Dead Guy). If I have one after this I think I'll have the Keeper's Stout from the same brewery.

Quite a Brown Ale night for me, fresh Muskoka Organic Dark and probably freshish Corporal Punishment (Corporal's Bitter Brown is the pussy LCBO name for it, so I prefer to stay true to the old name). Two completely different interpretations of the same style, and both are delicious in my view. The Corporal is of course so damn hoppy and bitter, where as the Muskoka is very sweet and roasty malt driven, almost more of a Porter than simple Brown Ale.
