The Blue Moon Bitter reminded me of how Tankhouse used to taste way back when it had a nice hop bite to it. The IPA seemed to be an English interpretation of the style and came across as nicely balanced. Would by the bottles if I saw them around.boney wrote:What was your impression of the Mpon Under Water Stuff?I seem never to make it to the brewpub when on the island.Torontoblue wrote:Little EBGA gathering to sample more wares:

KH was clearly the winner. They were 3 very different beers despite being the same style.liamt07 wrote:Which was the best? Always wanted to try any of theseandrewrg wrote:Tasting last night:

KH - smooth, well integrated bourbon and oak flavours.
AD - Whiskey barrel aged (the others were bourbon) and the overall taste was quite different than the other two. Definitely #3 for me.
MOAS - The base beer was very sweet compared to the other two and the barrel flavours were much less pronounced. A little hot compared to the other two. My second favourite.
Ayinger Brau-Weisse, the little picture on the cap and bottle is a reference:

By the way I may be staying in Aying a night or a few, and maybe some other brewing towns as well that are within close S-Bahn reach of Munich, when I next visit my Cousine who lives in the city.

I loved Bavaria... definitely recommend Andechs. I really liked my brunch at Weihenstephaner, but there's not much to do there.Belgian wrote: By the way I may be staying in Aying a night or a few, and maybe some other brewing towns as well that are within close S-Bahn reach of Munich, when I next visit my Cousine who lives in the city.
Spending a night in Bamberg (we stayed at Spezial) would certainly be at the top of my list. GREAT little town, with many breweries.

Pepperazzi
Then off to The Ship with Cale, Steelback and the ladies for
Sawdust City Golden Beach
Cameron's Sirius Wheat Ale

Thanks. Would like to do those other Munich stops (my Cousine used to live a bike-ride away from Kl. Andechs, but I never made it ithere yet.)Derek wrote:I loved Bavaria... definitely recommend Andechs. Bamberg is amazing to visit (did 3 day-trips) and I might overnight there on your & others' good word on it. Without time restraint and relatives in tow, I'd get in some serious beer sampling, as Josh Oakes did when he stayed there for days.
You really do forget how amazing and pretty south Germany is unless you go back often - it's so worth it!

Today I'm having Wehenstephaner Kristall, one of the best tasting filtered wheat beers in the world. Prosit!
