midlife crisis wrote:Grapefruit Lagoon, on tap at Granite, back for a limited time. Man, have they ever nailed the recipe for this beer now. If you like grapefruit flavours, it is superb. Juicy and rich, without the overwhelming astringency (or the too high abv, for that matter) found in some C-hop IPAs and DIPAs.
According to FB, they're selling a limited edition of 650 ml bottles of the stuff...cool...

Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
Nickel Brook Headstock IPA - good hoppy beer, I'm liking these brewers a lot... they make a better-than-average Saison or two, plus a nice Berliner Weisse and 2 very tastefully barrel-aged versions of the Bolshevik Bastard RIS (Pinot Noir and Bourbon.) Who do they think they are, Bellwoods? ;)

haven't had this one. Been looking for a low abv session pale. What hop varieties? Review?

GLB BBARIS
Boneshaker fresh from brewery. Much better than the sixer I got last week from local LC. Confirms my top three remarks earlier.

Charlevoix Vache Folle Milk Stout (still my favourite Quebec beer)
Beau's Bog Father (think the yeast ruined it for me)
Spearhead Hawaiian (bought over Twice As Mad which is becoming hard to buy given the price)

Had a couple pints of Barley Days Working Man's Stout from the cask at the Victory Cafe. Absolutely fantastic!

Tried a sample of Spearhead's Belgian Stout after the first pint but much preferred the Barley Days and ordered another.

After not drinking for 12 days due to some bloody stupid phlegmy cough, got back into the swing of things tonight with:

Red Racer
Laughing Dog Alpha Dog IIPA - far too unbalanced and harsh hop bite.
Fresh Howe Sound Megadestroyer - just arrived in Alberta. $11.00 a bottle. Seems a little sweeter than previous releases, but still a wonderful sup.

Garrison Grand Baltic Porter from last year. Vinous, almost port-like.

Saw some Eclipse at Premier but find it impossible to justify the price. People think the GLB stout is bad! Sheesh.

@ Cole's today:

Founders Imp. Stout
Ithaca Flower Power
Firestone Walker Union Jack
Dogfish Head My Antonia

and brought home:

case of Lagunitas Sucks
a bunch of Maine Beer Co.
Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break that the guy at Premier was reluctant to give me, due to only getting a case - this one has been near the top of list of beers-to-try for a while and I was grinning like an idiot when I got it
many others

No duty again - think it's been about a year since the last time we paid. Not sure what our secret is.

Really happy to see Maine Beer Co. and have easy access to Victory at Sea. Buffalo trips have been getting better and better.

Currently having a Zoe from Maine Beer Co. Delicious. I hope we get their MO and Lunch.
