I grabbed four Kentucky Bastards at Nickelbrook today. Right now a 2008 Samichlaus, tasting incredible. Previous times I have found it too much, this one is just right.

Flying Monkeys BNL
ST Choklat

Tasty
I don't always drink beer ... because sometimes my friends win and we have to go to macro-only establishments.

Alley Kat Darn Tartan Scottish Ale
Russian River Temptation (Batch 006) - Pours the most wonderfully clear, bright golden amber. Bags of sourness and funk on the nose, and as it warms, the Chardonnay really shines through.
Russian River Consecration (Batch 007) - Just a great sour brown ale with a real, true Cab Sauv flavour coming through. Marvellous!
Samichlaus 2006 - Still tastes a little young; too malty.
Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12, bottled July 2009 - Good integration from the whisky barrel. Like having a chocolate liquor.

Merry Xmas :)

Just finished up my cooking for supper. Sitting down to relax with a bottle of 2010 Le Trou du Diable Buteuse Brassin Special all to myself.

Over the last 2 days at the inlaws for Christmas. My inlaws are quite beer savy and it was a great holiday for beer.

Nickel Brook Saison-Growler
Black Creek Winter Warmer-Growler
Beer Academy Cherry Porter-Growler
BDT Double Pumkin (the French name escapes me at the moment)
Grand River Jubelation while opening presents (rule is you must drink a beer as soon as you are gifted a beer glass. We all got various glassware)
Great Lakes Red Leaf Lager's. Shotgunned after being shot with a Red Ryder BB gun in the back yard.....another rule.

Gifted my Father-in-law a Westy brick (from Alberta), some Tilquin, a Chimay 150 Anniversary beer, a wild Rose Rye Saison and a Muggleweisse w/ a Bellwoods glass. I think it's ok I married his daughter ;-)

Got a Jupiler mug, an Orval chalice, a King gift pack, and a beer BBQ cook book myself.

Homebrew APA and GR Jubilation to go with dinner.

And I love my in-laws - they brought us:

Surly Furious x4
Surly Darkness 2012
Big Sky Olde Bluehair
Ninkasi Total Domination IPA
Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
growler of Beyond the Pale Imperial Super Guy
growler of Beyond the Pale The Darkness
A shark on whisky is mighty risky. A shark on beer is a beer engineer.

Wow. Surly Darkness? Did they get that on eBay? Amazing in-laws indeed.

Tonight and yesterday...

Three Floyds Alpha Klaus Christmas Porter 2010 (all hops were gone, but still a good brew).
8 Wired Batch 31 Imperial Stout with coffee aged in american white oak barrels (i asked the brewery what type of barrel more precisely... tastes like tabasco)... amazing brew!

Probably going to finish tonight off with some Grande Noirceur.
