cratez wrote:After a 15-hour work day I was in the mood for something strong. Went with this year's St-Ambroise Vintage Ale, which IMO is the tastiest incarnation since the '09 release. I found the last two years to be boozy-malty forgettable messes, but the '12 delivers everything the label promises and more. Aromas jump out of the glass with candied fruit, apricot, sherry, plum, orange peel, and cherries coming to the fore. Big rich maltiness and full-bodied mouthfeel are rounded out with a grassy-earthy hop astringency. Excellent take on the style and one of the better Vintages that I've had.
Couldn't agree more. This year is spectacular. And it's still young. Buy these up fellas, they are only going to get better with age. 2012 has the potential to be the best vintage I've ever had.

Broue Haha in gatineau has it for 14.99+fees

Marche Omni will have it in december

I bought 6 12-packs, even though I really don't have room for this in my condo.. such a good deal, I can't pass it up. This is the best mixed pack I've seen by Unibroue in a while. I love all 4 beers.

My last harry porter and the bourbon soaked vanilla bean

I know you've been brewing like crazy Lackey, but if you could ever make this again, it would be appreciated.

Sounds good - I still have a few empties I should take back and maybe grab one of those and perhaps try Gary's conditioning "experiment".

2011 Thor's Hammer.

Apparently there were only 5 cases left and Kelowna's Metro got one.

I've had it fresh and thought it was a brute. I'd like to give it some more time to see how it develops and mellows.

It's good, but I think there's better stuff... even in Canada. IMHO, Great Lakes Unicorn blows this away.

At the Casbah and the Judge w/ Streets, Boney, Electroluminescent:

Naughty Neighbour (draught)
Beau's Dark Helmut (bottle)
Beau's Heirloom Ale (bottle)
Niagara College Russian Imperial Stout (draught)

I highly recommend that NC RIS to anyone who can find it. It's way better than Tempest and I found it to be quite similar to Hellwoods. Apparently it's 11%, but it wasn't hot at all. Very drinkable. Could use a bit more body but that's not to say it was thin. Best thing I've had out of NC. Going back for more tomorrow.

Thanks to Electroluminescent for the surprise tasting of Heady Topper - sipping out of the can. Haven't had a nice surprise like that in a long time. Didn't quite live up to the hype - but a great beer, and the chance to try it makes me happy enough.
