'06 Chimay Bleue - running low now on these!

'15 Rochefort 10 - Amazing grape and fig in this bold brew.

'14 Orval - such a beer - always reminding me of the NCL Carib cruise in Xmas of 2008, these and others were mistakenly under-priced at little more than Franziskaner Hefeweizen at the Maltings Bar. A rewarding end-of-day beer.

Great Lakes Life Sentence. Wow. I think that this years version might be an improvement over last year. This is by far the most pleasantly fragrant IPA I've ever had. And, I feel like the taste actually matches the smell, which for me is a rarity.

I wish they made this all year. It's all I would drink!

I'm normally a huge fan of Great Lakes' hoppy beers, but I found this one to have almost no aroma, even though I let it warm for 35 minutes and used proper glassware. The flavour was also much sweeter than I prefer for a DIPA / "Triple" IPA. Going to revisit on the weekend, but my first impression was not good.

Did an other half/veil/grimm IPA tasting with some friends south over the border. Veil has invaded my US top 5, at least for hoppy beers.

With some friends enjoying an eisbock tasting:

L'Alcimiste Eisbock
L'incorruptible biere de glace
Bush Pilot Norseman
Aventinus Weizeneisbock

And, although not an eisbock per se, some Samichlaus of varying vintages.

Over the last little while:

Lots of delicious stone go-to. I much prefer this to their regular IPA
Bench balls falls-my new regular buy IPA. Super tasty.
DuPont bons veux- so good that it's almost not fair. Still have one magnum left from 2 years back that may get cracked this Xmas.
Maudit-fantastic after shovelling 10cm of snow
2014 peche mortal-off the charts good.
Samuel smith impy stout-very nice, but only got to drink about 1/4 of it before it got spilled all over the couch.
Oscar blues g'night-really good, nice to get a malty yet hoppy beer, very sticky mouthfeel.
Innis and gunn dark ale bourbon finish- a nice surprise, better than expected. Very little of the normal I and G flavours, some nice bourbon notes(if a touch synthetic tasting)
Duvel tripel hop- a tasty little beer, quite subtle but floral tasting. The 9.5% is completely hidden.

Opened up a Le Trou Du Diable barVolo 25th Anniversary Sour Blend tonight. Very nice. Soft and more nuanced than the various Drie Fonteinen and the Cantillon I've had.

Oscar Blues Ten Fidy. This is a REALLY fine RIS, very thick head and loads of chocolate, smooth roast, balanced bitterness, and just enough dark fruit and a hint of salty soy. I call it ridiculous good, and it's funny I was already imagining cooking with it and how good the food would taste with all these deep flavors. Yes it's like sipping on rich nicely bitter chocolatey bread. It's the expensive Italian leather couch of Stouts.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'll be drinking my fair share of this over the winter.

'12 Unibroue 17 - This seems to have developed a lot of bitterness over time. A woody-herbal-spicy astringency mixed with the sweet fruity notes one would expect. It was interesting and enjoyable, but I think this was past its prime.
