I will try that Duvel drink tonight when I get in from work. Sounds good.

But I was really hoping for a nice version of a red-eye, since the motts clamatto red-eye is no longer available. I used to drink it by the case.

I made "The Duvel" for me and the missus last night. It was actually pretty damn good. The floral qualities of the duvel match the botanicals in the gin nicely. I love Duvel and I love Gin & Tonic, so the two working together is a nice surprise. Gotta watch it though, these are strong and easy to drink (especially when the gin is Old Raj @ 55% ABV!).

"No "beertini" for me, thanks. I'll stick with my Grolsch, straight up, in a chilled mug. "

Sounds like a real connoisseur. lol

Gin and Tonic happens to be my favourite cocktail so I am definitely going to give this a try. I have a 3 day drinking fest coming up in August and it seems like just the thing to sip during the day.

I'm about to mix one of the Duvel cocktails. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Nice! Yeah, it sounds like something I'd dig, I love gin. I'm gonna pick up some Duvel tomorrow and give 'er a whirl.

The fruitiness from the gin and the duvel works with the natural acidity in both drinks. It is quite floral and tasty. A nice summer sipper.

Yep. I didn't have as much gin as I thought I did*, but the mixed drink was fantastic. Definitely something to drink on a hot day when you just want to relax in the sun.

I'll be making a quite a few of these over the summer months. It might even be a way to get some of my less than beer enlightened friends to drink something decent like Duvel.

*I only had about the ounce the recipe called for. Next time however I want to try a full 2 oz shot.

Currently drinking one of these made with the following:

1/2 pint of Chimay White
1/2 pint of tonic water
2 oz of Tanqueray Gin
1 lemon wedge

Preferred the version last night with Duvel, but this one is still good. Quick question on gin, of the three affordable brands at most LCBOs (Tanqueray, Beefeater and Bombay Sapphire) which is the best? Also, what gins available at the LCBO are better than these?

Not a big Gin drinker, but I do like the Bombay on ice, no mix.

For mix, I usually go Tanqueray myself.

The Bombay is the one I usually go for as well. I'd definitely like to know if there are any better gins available at the LCBO or not.

There are plenty of better gins available for better prices. New Amsterdam comes to mind.

Check out the "comments" following the article. They're hilarious! This is what we're up against, people.
