Yeah Jester... that made... sense...
Ontario's longest running digital community dedicated to good beer.
https://www.bartowel.com/forum/
You didn't start it. These kind of grass roots protests have been attempted many times before, both here and elsewhere, and nothing has changed. Whether people like the existing system or not (or are indifferent like the vast majority of the alcohol buying public in Ontario) you have to change it from within. Do some research here in the multitude of threads and postings and you'll find many better ideas than yours to create more meaningful and substantial change.$ wrote: Right, that's why I've started it up. It has to start somewhere.

Or stand in front of your local LCBO on "protest day" wearing your anti-corp sandwich board and let us know how it goes. Whatever floats your boat.
I don't think Jon is choosing convenience over what is right. He makes perfect, logical sense. By the way,h e's got plenty of selection where he lives, which I believe, is in BRITISH COLUMBIA.$ wrote:Jon Walker wrote:You didn't start it. Rather odd you are against my little fun boycott, but I suppose that is because you feel a bit guilty about choosing convenience over what is right.
I guess you never even bothered to read the facebook posting. There is no "protest day".
Now go finish off your bottle of ... Molson Ultra.
Ha! Any beer I bring back to our conservative socialist motherland of Ontario is for me me me me me.shintriad wrote:I will support your protest...by purchasing a portion of your imported beer off you.
This really doesn't seem likely. The risk of carrying craft beers is much less for a private store because they don't have to do these massive releases that the LCBO does. They can order a beer once and if it doesn't sell, they can just not order it again. There is a reason I can get a better selection in Lethbridge, Alberta than in all the LCBO's/TBS's combined.Matty D wrote: You need to be carefull what you wish for. You push to have private beer sales and you may end up with less selection then more. You might only get the big sellers as retailers may not be able to afford the risk of carrying the craft brews.
wow, I'm a douchebag for not selling my beer to someone who won't go get their own?mintjellie wrote:What a douchebag.
For sure, like I said, I will most likely be dropping into the LCBO every other month to maybe buy some new seasonals, maybe a few good beers.Matty D wrote: I know over the past few years the avalability of quality beer has gone up at my local LCBO's. It still has a long way to go though. So by buying the beer I enjoy from them I hope to keep this trend going.
Good luck with your boycott.
So in what way is this a boycott?$ wrote:For sure, like I said, I will most likely be dropping into the LCBO every other month to maybe buy some new seasonals, maybe a few good beers.

I'm sure it's really going to impact their bottom line! Like others, I'm not sure I understand the point of this.$ wrote:Bobsy wrote:So in what way is this a boycott?$ wrote:For sure, like I said, I will most likely be dropping into the LCBO every other month to maybe buy some new seasonals, maybe a few good beers.
because every other month I won't be buying anything at the lcbo-bs
I'm not sure bimonthly-boycott is as sexy a word
