Oktoberfest

Post by Queef »

Like to make my plans well in advance personally. Has anyone heard anything regarding the Beau's Oktoberfest this year? I heard it was going to be over 2 days instead of just one? Not interested in all at the Molsoctober one in KW, but want to hopefully catch a bus out to Vankleek Hill...

ha. Should have looked there, didn't know such a link existed on that site.

Good to see there are buses again. Wonder if the line ups will be resolved this year?

Hopefully no lineups this year. We're volunteering for a portion of it so we can get free admission over the weekend. Also there will be "rough" camping available.

They also still have yet to release the Sticke Alt yet, apparently aging on oak as well, according to retail girls. Wouldn't be suprised if some of that was held for that weekend as well, giving 6 german styles in total, not including what may be part of that Volo Cask Days stuff as well!!!

Now this is seriously tempting.
Anyone go last year?

What are the fairgrounds like...wide open spaces? Just trying to figure out what the rough camping might be like...was this offering last year? Did people "tent" it?

Also, no details on the bus package option. I assume from fixed points....downtown Toronto?

The buses only run from Ottawa. I sadly didn't make it out last year (can't recall why), but it sounds considerably better this year (beer-wise, anyway), and am pissed that I'll be missing it.

I went last year. I don't think it's possible for the weather to be worse in early october than it was last year. That said everyone I was with had a great time. Long lineups for stuff, but then my understanding is they weren't expecting close to 4 or 5000 people either.
It was only one day last year so no camping options, just plenty of bus action back to Ottawa on the hour, so plenty of hotel options there. Who knows enough people express interest, and its the kind of brewery that would try and swing you a bus from T.O.??? maybe?.

I went last year, it was awesome. Even with the long line ups everyone seemed to be having a really good time and no one seemed to be getting pissed off. The Night Marzen was really good and I ended up sitting next to George Wendt on the hay wagon from the brewery to the fairgrounds.

For those that went last year, did they have any wine or cider available? I ask because my wife does not drink beer due to gluten alergies, so I thought it would be a selling point for her if they had wine or cider available. I love Oktoberfest and want to make the trip to this event.

Ryan.
