Brewery road trip

Post by Archbeer »

I'm driving to Dunedin FL in early March and planning to stop at as many Breweries or Brew pubs as possible.

I'll be going through Michigan and taking the I75

Any recommendations?

Nice, spring training trip?

How far out of the way are you willing to go for a brewery?

Ya were going to see the jays play a couple games but we got lots of time to take to get down there.

As far as how far off the trail were willing to go? We don't mind heading off a couple hours or so.

I75 goes through Knoxville and Asheville, which isn't too far away, is a hot beer spot recently. About 10 breweries in the town.

Great. Knoxville is one of the places we planned on stopping.

Has anyone tried anything from any of those breweries?

Go to the ratebeer places section and load up the "proximity map" and placemarks will come up as you move along your planned route. Good way to find spots you might not have found otherwise.

Go to the Saint Somewhere brewery in Tarpon Springs Florida. Tarpon Springs is not far from Dunedin. Very nice people at Saint Somewhere, making good Belgian style beers.

When you're in Dunedin, Saint Somewhere in Tarpon Springs and Cigar City in Tampa are an absolute must. Peg's Cantina in Gulfport is about a half hour to forty minutes from Dunedin and is a worthwhile stop as well, it's a little brew pub with good food and beer. The beer there is a hobby for one of the brewers at Cigar City.

Make sure you sit on the first baseline at the Jay's games in Dunedin if you can, even if the game is a bust the beer guy will entertain. This is the first Spring in the last 3 that I'm not heading down to Dunedin I'm going to miss it.
