Your first *Aha* Imperial Sout

Post by TheBeeraholic »

Don't mean to go overboard on the *Aha* postings. But I think this would be a good one and I'm interested in knowing what Imperial Stouts really caught other BT's palates.

Personally the first real imperial stout I had was The 2010 Abyss, sadly I drank it before the best after date on the bottle, to this date I compare all imperial stouts to this.

Those first batches of Russion Gun! I think they were like 9.4 or something...

Old Rasputin followed by Stone IRS. Both remain favourites.

I think it was oak-aged yeti.

I had some tame UK versions and some brash US versions, but this one was big and very 'drinkable'. It is a well-crafted brew.

Bells has always been one of my favourites though.

Now I've gotten over my aversion to black 'patent' malt, and I do like them a little more brash. It's nice that BC Liquor gets the Old Rasputin occasionally.

The Yeti's are probably the beers I'm most looking forward to trying from the bunch I got in Buffalo last weekend.
