Pictures and a blog from our Belgium trip
Not sure if anyone's interested, but my wife and I finished our blog from last year's Belgium trip. Better late than never.
We wrote about our three brewery visits:

well, that's us!andrewrg wrote:Huh, I've been reading that blog for a few months. Interesting that it's someone on here.
it started as my wife's blog, and since I'm usually involved in the eating adventures, I've started to contribute. she's been busy with school, so I've started to pitch in a bit more.
hope you enjoy her/our work!

Nice pics, those are the 3 spots I would hit if I ever found myself in Belgium. Looking at your journeys through the hop fields, you might have arrived just before the plants flowered, they are harvested late summer August/September.

we were there at the end of June. we did a 2 week trip - Paris for 4 days, then a train to Brussels, 1 full day in Brussels, a few days in Brugges (overrated), a few days in Ghent (loved it), one day trip to Poperinge, then the train to Antwerp for a few days (loved it).phirleh wrote:Nice pics, those are the 3 spots I would hit if I ever found myself in Belgium. Ghent doesn't have as much as one would want beer-wise, but we found a bar with Rochefort and St Bernadus on tap. not bad.
Brugges is nice but Ghent is grittier and cooler and prettier, in my opinion.
Brussels is worth 1-2 days. The city is OK, and keeping in mind that touring a brewery/winery isn't our thing, visiting Cantillon is a must. really cool to see how they do things and drinking there is really fun. Moedr Lambic is also one of the most amazing bars we've ever been to. Cantillon on cask (!!!) and a mind-blowing bottle selection. somewhere, I have pictures of what we drank. it was crazy.
Antwerp is a really cool city. great vibe. we drank at Kulminator, which is one of the best bars in the world. their beer cellar blows your mind. we started drinking at 5 and left at midnight. walked home for an hr while drunk and had a wicked post-birthday hangover. it was amazing.

Plus you got to meet Urbain Coutteau at De Struisse, does everyone who goes to Belgium get to meet him?atomeyes wrote:we were there at the end of June. we did a 2 week trip - Paris for 4 days, then a train to Brussels, 1 full day in Brussels, a few days in Brugges (overrated), a few days in Ghent (loved it), one day trip to Poperinge, then the train to Antwerp for a few days (loved it).phirleh wrote:Nice pics, those are the 3 spots I would hit if I ever found myself in Belgium.
