Oak Cask/Barrel Question..

Post by zombi69 »

Any leads on where I could purchase one of these barrels? New or used, it doesn't matter.

They have used ones too http://canadianoakbarrels.com/html/used_barrels.html
but may not be suitable for brewing purposes (could be dried out) that's the hardest thing, coming across a used barrel that can still hold liquid well. Usually if you have a good connection with a winery, it helps. But having the space to put a large barrel that weighs hundreds of pounds and even filling it is another whole ball of wax. Check also with U-Brew wine shops. If they use barrels for wine, they may offload them eventually. The first wine fermentation may take a few months, the second, a little longer, and so on, until it becomes unreasonable. Most U-brew wine shops may only (or should) use the 5 gallon barrels for about 5 or 6 times. You could score one there for a good price.
