Yeah, definitely not the formerly usual boring lager to start with. Remember bitching about that? Not so much anymore for the last couple of years.

I like the baseball theme. The tap handles look great. The beer names are clever. Probably a good time to have a baseball theme since the Blue Jays may actually be good this year.

Yeah, I know I might sound like a homer as I wrote the post and do the webcast with Mark, but I would say that opening with an Oatmeal Brown Ale, when he has a single-hop Pale Ale in the quiver suggests not taking the safe route. Sure, it probably is at least a nod to the saturation of the Toronto market with American Pales, but I wouldn't call it "safe". I've had early iterations of all three beers, and they're rock-solid. Mark is an excellent brewer, and Mandie knows enough about liquor sales to make this not just work, but be successful. I'm really stoked for them.

I'm a sucker for anything baseball-themed, so will welcome these brews with open arms. Agreed, hardly "safe" launch styles, and all three sound delicious. And launching on opening day? Awesome. They've got my dollar come April 5, and if the beer lives up to the descriptions, far beyond that. Imagine they could secure a small kiosk at the Dome? Yeah right, but a guy can dream, right?

We've got tickets to the Apr 5 Red Sox game at Skydome. Would be fantastic, though probably very unlikely, if the launch was there.

I am also a friend of Mark's so I come in with an admitedly biased outlook on this, but I echo your thoughts that this looks like anything but "safe" to me. I am looking forward to trying all 3. Being an avid baseball fan only makes this more appealing to me. Good luck Mark (and Mandie)!

Any new brewery that doesn't launch with a limited edition of a near forgotten or newly created beer style, aged in foreign sourced barrels shall be deemed to be brewing "safe" styles

I too love the baseball theme and I can't honestly see what's so "safe" about this launch. It looks adventurous and welcome to me.

Baseball - gooood. Beer - goooooooooood.

This sounds great. I love "6-4-3 Double IPA". Great name.

Looking foward to these "safe" beers.

They should brew a Sauternes barrel aged gruit, fermented with brett, and call it "Safe at Home!".

This is the coolest branding I've seen in a while. The styles are exactly the type of beers I like to drink at local bars and the tap handles remind me of the MLB mini bats I used to collect as a kid. I'll be seeking these guys out come April.

Awesome branding, and I hope the product lives up to the promise. If so, a welcome addition to Toronto's scene. Love the booming craft beer options!
