Thanks. I have WAY too much beer. There's even more boxes that are not pictured. I keep telling myself that I have to cut back, yet every time I go to the US, I am unable to control myself. :)

My wife asks that I keep my cellar at no more than 100 bottles and our basement fridge holds about 50, so I'm prettymuch stuck with breadth rather than depth.

Sudden craving for Bells Expetidion for some reason...

+1

After looking at all these photo's I've decided I need to build a shelving unit!

what temperature will beer freeze at? With the recent crappy weather, my basement cellar is starting to get really cold. Today my cellar dropped to 4c. Anyone else run into problems like this?

Alcohol. All those beers on the patio/balcony bring the beer to -4C. On the edge. Haze forming, thinking about chunks. Pull one out and crack the top...boom! Body turns to slush.

Temp drops with the pressure drop and sludge, its ice.

The first step to recovery is admitting all these bottles make a damn nice picture. Which they sure do!

Great stuff, fellas.
I was just down in my cellar (in my shallow basement, under the porch) yesterday moving some beer fridge overflow and realized I needed to update my cellarhq and take a couple pics. Lighting is not the best, but hopefully the flash on the new cam picks it up.
Will do tonight.

Depends on alcohol content. Typically 5% can be brought to 29°F before you risk freezing, although you can go lower, it will often freeze when popped or even jostled. I once left a bottle in the freezer for a couple hours, was liquid until I popped the cap at which point it formed an ice plug in the neck

The formula for the freezing point of beer is:

Tf = – (0.04*Original Extract (Plato) + 0.42*Alcohol Strength + 0.2) oC

thus a 5% beer with OG at 12 Plato will freeze at - 2.78 C

TheSevenDuffs....I'll take the top shelf, you can have the rest! ;)

Same here....wife thought our basement was bad, so showing her these pics is putting things into perspective. :)

@FEUO - you need some shelving units - and some smaller pictures ;)

Zoiks! Hahahahaha, posted from iphone. No idea they'd be that big (twss).

Shelving units are being investigated. But that cellar is only 5' tall. Ideally I will drink most of it before new years. ;)
