My beer of the year goes to Hopfenstark - Berlin Alexanderplatz. Here are 10 others that I tried for the first time and loved this year (in no order):

Central Waters - Peruvian Morning
Jolly Pumpkin - La Roja
Bellwoods - Bring out Your Dead
Le Trou Du Diable - Dulcis succubus
Cantillon - Fou' Foune
Dieu du Ciel - Peche Mortel Réserve Spéciale (fût Bourbon)
The Alchemist - Heady Topper
Otter Creek / Lawson's Finest Liquids - Double Dose IPA
Lagunitas - Lagunitas Sucks
Dogfish Head - Palo Santo Marron

Though I still have three different geuzes from 3 Fonteinen and three from Bruery planned to try this year. I expect those to be good.

I don't do much rating (64 ratings on RB since 2006, and just 27 on BA since 2005), so after having a lotta lotta beers I've never tried before in 2013, below are the highest rated I did this year:

Deschutes Black Butte XXIII 4.2
Hair of the Dog Adam 4.1
Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break 4.1
Uinta Crooked Line Labyrinth Black Ale 4.1
3 Fonteinen Intense Red Oude Kriek 3.8
Mikkeller/Three Floyds Risgoop 3.8
Wild Rose Gose Rider 3.8
Alley Kat McDougall Scottish Export Ale 3.8
Nómada Papaya Crash Edition 3.7
Nómada Royal Porter A La Taza 3.6

I only put 28 ratings on RB this year, which is only a small sample of what I did have (how did I miss rating Jai Alai when I drank at least 18 of them?) so I'll draw on a slightly faulty (I think we know the reasons why) memory here

HF Abner
Lawson's Double Sunshine
New England Ghandi-Bot
Crooked Stave Hop Savant
Epic Brainless on Cherries
Stone w00tStout
Rapp Gose
Cigar City Jai Alai
Great Lakes RoboHop
Founder's KBS

It's funny you say that. I hadn't had Pliny in well over a year (maybe almost 2) and on a Cali trip this summer I had it and thought it was terrible. Thought it must have been an off keg. Had it again two days later and it was just as disappointing. Then the next day I found Blind Pig on tap and WOW!!! It is so much better than Pliny.
