Looks like a fresh batch of Immodest is also back in the Nickel Brook retail store:

Immodest is a great brew, hope this becomes a regularly brewed beer!

I would agree with your preference. Although Karma Citra is brewed to be an IPA, while the Monogamy brews are APAs. Not that there is always an easy or obvious distinction between the two styles.

True enough, and the style difference probably explains my preference more than any other factor.

As an aside, it would be a good week-end for out-of-towners to visit Bellwoods. It has been a while since I've seen 8 different beers available from the bottle shop at the same time.

True....I was tempted to grab a cat lady as I haven't had it in a long time...good selection there for sure. But I'll wait to spend some $$ there when the special anniversary bottles come out soon. I am also curious to hear what ever happened to Blitzen 2014...as they said it was in the works...but obviously didn't go as planned.

When I was in a few weeks ago, the cashier mentioned the Blitzen was close and that they were trying to think of a non-Christmasy name. Her suggestion was Bambi.

Ah, cool. Good to hear Coronaeus.
I wondered if they may just skip it...and turn it into some special anniversary beer or something. I had planned to buy a few as Xmas gifts this past year, which is why I kept wondering about it.

Karma Citra:6.5%
Monogamy Citra: 6.4%

Both wonderful, if you're a fan of Citra hop.

This is great example of the blurred lines between APA/IPA/DIPA that we've had recently in other threads.

In my opinion, two beers that are within .1% ABV and brewed to the same basic style guidelines should warrant comparison to each other.

I have a Monogamy Citra in the fridge that I will try as soon as I get over this cold and will post my thoughts on it in comparison to Karma Citra.

Or the inherent silliness of these sorts of sub-categorizations?

They're all good categorizations - taken with a grain of salt. All IPAs DIPAs and APAs are Pale Ales, once or twice removed. And taking it a step further there should logically also be AIPAs to differentiate from British-style India Pale Ales since the 'American' Pale Ale IS often closer to a west-coast IPA than a British Pale or IPA.

That concludes today's lesson zzzzzzzzz.....
