Had one last night (can). Can't speak to how "fresh" it was, but it was a pretty average pint. And not too "mild" at 4.8%, although it falls within the acceptable range for a bitter (albeit at the high end of the spectrum).

And since these contain more water and less alcohol, a different tax category & price range would be very "socially responsible". I believe the current lack of pricing incentive drives people to buy a little more ABV for their money if the prices are universally pretty high, just my impression...

We should get a bill passed that supports inexpensive milds and bitters!

at 4.2% abv I find harviestoun bitter & twisted is a nice session option. unfortunately, and to Belgian's point, $3.50 may be an issue for some.

It's tough to find a decent beer that's not a pale lager at the LCBO for $10 a 4-pack of tall boys. I think <$10 for a mild/bitter (considerable less malt and hops required for the brew) is more than fair.

I wonder if you could pull a Gary and make your own perfect session ale with a correct proportion of sparkling water. This is essentially high-gravity brewing the MolBatts use, applied to a much higher quality single-batch original product. Wonder what would actually work in terms of which beer and how to reach a correct final gravity. Is there any technical reason why this would not be like a good session ale?

That's a good opinion IMHOOYHO.

I could drink the bejeez out of that, it's on at the BW retail store right now, 4.50 per 500ml. Funny I'm drinking a Mikkeller Cream Ale right now and it's about as good and I want more of it.
