It's a Summer themed release, hence the Weiss, Saison, Ginger, fruit, IPA & Pale ales.

What would you expect to be released for the hot summer months?

You've got some highly rated beers in that release. A far cry from previous poor releases that used to happen.

I'm sold. Particularly excited to try the Kipling and Tap X, and it's nice to see a highly rated saision coming to the 'BO. I've always enjoyed the Punk IPA and will never understand why some people hate it. Seems like this one is similar to the Spring release in terms of the markedly improved quality of the products.

Maybe a berliner weisse and/or some form of a lambic? An OK release at best, nothing really jumps out at me - I echo Marcus' sentiment.

What suppliers currently available in Ontario can provide a Berliner Weisse or Lambic?

In terms of a Gueze, I could be wrong, Peter can correct me, but I'm not sure the Cuvee Rene exactly flew off the shelves...I think I bought most of the Brampton stock, but up here, there were bottles sitting around for a LONG while (I bought two cases). Maybe it was the 6.00+ price tag.

For us, a bargain, but to people just introduced to the style?

If I recall correctly, Peter said they turned down the Cuvee submission for this summer.

LCBO executive meeting:

Executive #1 "We should get some beer from Europe. People like Europe. Good profit margin."
Executive #2: "So, which country in Europe makes the best beer?"
Executive #1: "Not really sure. I am more of a Smirnoff Ice kind of guy. SHould we google it?"
#2: "Let me jog my memory...hrm...I remember seeing European Vacation when I was young. Rusty got to touch boobies. THat movie was cool. and it was in Germany! So let's order in lots of German beer!"
#1: "Perfect! That pretty much covers all important European countries. Germany it is! Let me pass you another Ice so we can celebrate our ability to choose for Ontarians!"

No I haven't. Spiced/herbed beers are generally not my thing. Neither are fruit/vegrtable beers. It doesn't excite me in the least.
can i offer you a delicious Fruli to change your mind?

Haters! All of you!!!

Look, I think that summer beers can be controversial, because they aren't typically "beer geek" beers - Big stouts, big IPAs, big everything. But this isn't the whole list yet. And yes, last summer was pretty good with the geuze, but I think there's still some pretty interesting stuff on here. And germany has a lot of summery beers to offer. (Weiss, Pils, etc)

Frankly, I'm pretty excited to see hopfen weiss coming back!

i have 12 bottles of Jolly Pumpkin waiting for me in the west end of Toronto. $10/bottle.
something tells me that I won't be buying much from the LCBO this summer, since I may have a regular go-to guy (monthly TO to Michigan trips).

i can see 1, maybe 2 beer on that list that i'd look at trying.

no Saison Dupont. sigh!
