while i really like the Only, I have to pipe up and say that their winter beer festival was a bit of a mess.
way overcrowded outside. really hard to get to each vendor. and none of the beer really knocked our socks off.
not sure how they'll handle a spring festival. i assume it will be even more crowded.

And:
The Only Cafe marks each season with a beer festival with the goal of giving local breweries an opportunity to showcase their craft to like-minded folks, promoting craft beer awareness and continued success for the little guy.
How it works:
Admission is free, and visitors can buy sample tickets from one of us at $1 each. A ticket gets you a 5 oz sample, 4 tickets gets you a 16oz cup. Samples are given in biodegradeable cups.
Sampling times:
Brewers begin pouring at 5pm on each day and pour until they are out of beer. Usually this begins happening at around 9pm, but sometimes earlier, so be sure to get in early because there may well be line-ups.
Crowdophobic?
Although the festival takes place on our back patio, you are free to bring your samples inside and have a seat. Don`t forget: we are licensed not only on the back patio and the bar, but on the coffee side as well. Feel free to wander!

a few bravos.
there was some awesome representation at today's event.
First, hats of to Keep6/Volo. They brough bourbon barrel-aged Peche Mortel, and two different Trou du Diable beer. like, seriously. add to that some Rose D'Hibiscus and Peche on tap along with a few other selections and, yeah, first place.
I also dug that Great Lakes brough out their porter. it was great to have.
and Unibrou had bottles of Terrible for sample. that made me very happy.
so there were my positives. the negative....
The winter beerfest had way too many people on the patio. the pendulum swung the other way and it was with poor results. the patio was half empty and not crowded. but there was a 20+ minute wait to get onto the patio. so, basically, if you had friends and were on the patio, you could linger indefinitely. if you wanted to go inside and sit and enjoy your beer, you had to line up again.
my only recommendation is, for the next beer festival, they should have the patio full of vendors and make people walk through without stopping to drink or linger.
