Black Creek's latest, a brown ale made from 100% Ontario ingredients. This rocks, with a full natural flavour and something we can call our own. The hops are very interesting with a lemony tang that is not really American, more English I would say.

The best so far of their range, IMO.

Enjoying one now as well. Is this a rebrand of their brown ale? I never had it but don't see any mention of this new beer on their site.

There is an interesting list of one-offs throughout the year.

There wasn't a bottled brown ale earlier IIRC. They sold (sell?) a dark ale at the small brewery at Black Creek Village made from ingredients grown in the area, but the bottled beers are brewed off-site somewhere I believe.

Where is this available - bottles and/or draught and where? Definitely not purchasing a growler of this stuff, even with how close I am to the brewery - always flat.

Is this at the LCBO? Sign me up if it is, don't mind getting a growler, and don't mind the flat beer, but it'd be more convenient if it was at the BO!

I've had the brown ale before in growler form, and wonder if it's like that.

It's cool that they're getting creative with their "Large scale" offerings - it must have been a lot of work to source all Ontario ingredients - I know that Muskoka wasn't able to do that this year with the harvest ale (unlike last).

Anyway, I like Black Creek and what they do (1 mile beer, etc) and I'm glad we have them.

(I've also secretly always wanted to do the "Brew for the Day" where you dress up and brew!)

LCBO website is showing inventory at 46 stores.

I believe the bottled stuff is made at that brewery in Oakville that nobody likes.

Yeah, but this is pretty great stuff, I'm drinking right now. The citrus of the hops with the malt is perfect. It's actually quite refreshing and both tastes linger for quite a while.

It's a little hard to pin the flavours and aromas but to me they go beyond other browns in Ontario (sorry, Muskoka - I still loves you!)

The hops were lost on me (I'll try to pay more attention with my second bottle), but this was a really solid brown ale. It may be my favourite that I've had from Black Creek, though I've only had the bottles from the Lickbo.

I found this to be just OK, I probably wont pick up any more of it though. I also didn't get much in the way of hops here just a bit of bitterness in the finish.

Resurrecting this post a bit, because this beer is new to me.

I like it a little more each time I try it. Definitely a little under-carbed but I think it'd pretty complex for a brown ale and I definitely get a little lemony smack at the start of the taste. I also totally dig historic angle and association with the War of 1812.

Just as an aside.....considering that both Black Creek (LCBO bottles) and Trafalgar are produced out of the same brewhouse, I wonder how the hell the quality of the two products differs so dramatically. I know that they are brewed by different teams and Black Creek brews under contract, but I always just assumed that Trafalgar had so many problems because of systemic sterilization/cleaning flaws at the brewery, which might presumably affect both products.
