Buffalo Beer Week - Oct 26 to Nov 4
Buffalo Beer Week - Oct 26 to Nov 4
Thought I'd start a post about it.
Its inexplicably the same weekend as Cask Days (what are the odds of that?). While details of beer are pretty thin right now, I do know that they'll have a cask of Cantillon (Zwanze?).
Tickets are $40ish. Not sure what you get other than admission.

Doubt it would be Zwanze, Zwanze Day 2012 is on December 1. I'd like to hear more about this fest though, I'm curious given that I'm not really into cask days at all...atomeyes wrote:Thought I'd start a post about it.

Anyone got a link for this? All I can find when I Google "Buffalo Beer Festival" is the Buffalo Brewfest that took place back in August: http://www.askbhsc.org/content/pages/buffalo-brewfest
I'm guessing they're talking about thisGregClow wrote:Anyone got a link for this? All I can find when I Google "Buffalo Beer Festival" is the Buffalo Brewfest that took place back in August: http://www.askbhsc.org/content/pages/buffalo-brewfest

A shark on whisky is mighty risky. A shark on beer is a beer engineer.
yes, it sucks that this overlaps with Cask Days. It was originally scheduled for earlier in October but it conflicted with another week-long event & got moved back.
There are a bunch of great events planned for the week - unfortunately most are not yet on the calendar. Hopefully the organizers get them listed there soon - I'm heading to a beer-centric Farm to Table dinner tonight with some of the organizers - I'll prod them to get events listed ASAP.
Offhand at least 6 special beers have been brewed for the week. We at CBW have 3 (Black Ale, Belgian Blonde w. Amaranth, Citra-ed version of our Pale). We also did a collaboration Belgian IPA with Flying Bison. Flying Bison also did an Alt with Matt from Gordon Biersch Buffalo. There is also a really nice West Coast style IPA brewed at Pearl Street that was a collaboration between Pearl St, Community Beer Works, Gene McCarthy's & Big Ditch (a new nano in planning)
Also, I forget what Cantillon they're going to have for the festival, but its not a Zwanze.

Hi Everyone... I am the chair of beer week along with the folks from Blue Monk and Pizza Plant. We've had some challenges finding the right date. Our original date overlapped with our restaurant week. Last year we overlapped with Toronto Beer Week. Actually one of the main reasons we wanted to move from the June date was to avoid Toronto Beer Week. Right after we set the new date I noted that we overlapped with Cask Days!!! Sorry about that. The ideal would be that our big Buffalo events and your big Toronto beer events would not overlap. We'll get there.
I would very much like for our beer week to be on your calendar and vice versa. I would suggest a group of brewers and bar owners from Buffalo plan to visit Toronto some Saturday in November for lunch to work this out. wbrooks@gmail.com
I the meantime here's the beer list
