I don't always drink beer ... because sometimes my friends win and we have to go to macro-only establishments.

At home with Christmas dinner with my side of the family, cooking the best piece of meat that I've ever had in an oven - standing rib roast from Sausage Partners:*

-Westy with my BIL, before I broke up the glass set to give one to him (along with another Westy)

-Really nice Rioja

-The rest in a pot for after dinner mulled wine.

*Not to say I was the one who cooked it well, I just covered it with salt, pepper and tyme, and took it out when it was nice and rare.

GLB Vanilla Bean Stout
Muskoka Cranberry 2012
Yebisu Premium

First two were great, though I found the vanilla bean stout to be overly sweet as it warmed. No comment on the Yebisu.

Last night, shared a few good beers with the in laws:

- Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel Aged Mead
- Ale Smith Speedway Stout
- Surly Abrasive
- ST Mokah
- Nickelbrook Naughty Neighbor

I think I am officially done with these ST stouts. WAY too sweet. Drank the Mokah side-by-side with Speedway and the Mokah was cloyingly sweet. I couldn't even drink it.

I find most ST beers to be overly sweet, including barleywines.
