@ The Harbord House with my son while we did a spiderman activity book.

1/2 pint of Beau's Mission Accomplished, AIPA.

One of the more "on-style" beers that they've made, I think, but there's still something weird about it - maybe it's their yeast that I always taste.

I had a pint this evening and really enjoyed it though the yeast taste definitely took away from it. It would be brilliant filtered.

lol, even when Beau's is "on style" there is a strange taste in the background...

It's 100% their yeast.

Kissmeyer Snowy Spring Royal Pilsner (bottle)
Beyond The Pale Rye Guy (cask)
Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion (draft)
Logsdon Oak Aged Bretta (bottle)
Beau's Bottle Imp (bottle)

If Beau's is going to win people back, they need to start by replacing the seasonals. Bottle Imp to replace Bog Water in the winter at the same price. I'd seriously rather drink this than FBS. Bring it, haters.

yeah...I don't find that distracting taste in all their beers but I do in the IPAs.

first time at beerbistro tonight!

sampled: rodenbach, left field eephus, unibroue maudite

bottle: victory hop wallop, founders breakfast stout

i realized a little too late that hop wallop might not have been the best choice due to freshness issues (retired brew), but it wasn't so bad. they were out of black oak 10 bitter years by the time i got there though

Founders Porter - more amazing each time
Founders Imperial Stout - incredible impy showing deep chocolate, roast coffee and winey fruit, possibly better than the Breakfast Stout

* edit *
Orval 03/09/2008 - this still tastes wonderful, I think this beer is fairly indestructible for over half a decade. Tasty with sliced kosher dills and spiced italian green olives.
* edit *
Another Orval 03/09/2008 - also pretty good, insane puffy ivory-colored head showering sweet-citrus and herbal aromas. Seared Ontario ribeye steak oven-glazed with butter, gratuitous mention though it goes well with.
