Spending a week in Florida... what to drink?

Post by Baulz »

I'm off to spend a week with the Costanza's at Del Boca Vista Phase 3 enjoying 4pm early bird specials...

A week with my parents in Cape Coral, I need some beer to get through this. My Dad has been kind enough to offer to have the fridge stocked for my arrival, like a have some kind of reputation. I'm a big fan of hoppy pales and IPAs, and have been browsing the totalwine.com website for what to request. Any suggestions? I want to try some to compare to clone recipes I've brewed, or plan to brew this year. Looks like hot weather so far so some wheats would be good too.

Sierra Nevada Pale
Sierra Nevada Topedo IPA
New Belgium Ranger
Bell's Two Hearted IPA
Stone IPA

Florida, much like Western New York, has also seen huge improvements to their distribution map recently. You can find the likes of: Bruery, Prairie, Bell's, Founders, and New Belgium among others.

If you see Anchor Porter, I would drink the hell out of that. Also Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.

New York is weird like that. It seems Western New York (Buffalo/Niagara), Upstate (Rochester/Syracuse), and New York City all have different stuff available. New York City just started carrying Bell's. Upstate had AleSmith a few months before WNY.

Thanks for all the tips, it should be a tasty week. I'm now trying to plan a trip now to the Cigar City brewery.

Definitely worth it, their tap room is great, and it's right around the corner from a well stocked Total Wine

Jai Alai was breathtaking. Making plans to brew a clone shortly. We went out for dinner one night and it was in the domestic beer list, $3.75! I thought it was funny as Blue Moon was on the more expensive imported list. I also tried their Invasion Pale and Hopped on the High Seas Citra IPA was fantastic.

Shopping at Total Wine was an amazing experince, it was hard to hold back. I drank as much as possible for 7 days, the last day was tough trying to finish them all off ;)
