ya think?

it is actually quite sad. the pseudonyms, the fake brewery, the fake packaging, buying twitter followers.
if all of this is true, he really needs help that doesn't come in the form of a 6-pack.

It makes me sad that this website is nicer than the websites of many of the REAL breweries in Ontario...

True. It seems that even somebody's nephew could make a halfway decent website and generate some 'almost free' brand interest & product support for a brewery.

I mean if you click and it looks like 1996 again, there's kind of a problem...

So here's some fun/information:

When you try to buy a t-shirt it goes to a test paypal page with the address foundblue@gmail.com

A quick google search on foundblue@gmail.com finds the following: http://agentfive.deviantart.com/prints/
Which leads one, via the profile page, to this: http://www.gigoelmoselhi.com/

Also the google search on said email address finds this: http://wa-com.com/analogrecordings.info & http://wa-com.com/canadacollective.org
Which correlates the name from the daviant art search above, and gives address and phone number for our suspect.

Let me reiterate, suspect.

So the whole thing ended up being the workings of a frustrated design student just looking to get his digital art out there.

In the grand scheme of beer trolls, I give credit for actually spending time designing packaging for fake beer far better than I ever could, as well as the initial dedication to the troll he showed through his outbursts of assholery on twitter and Facebook.

In the grand scheme of things: Far less offensive (though a bitter "artist") than Frank D'Angelo but nowhere near as rich or entertaining. :(

Duggans Parkdale and Lansdowne Brewery...just north of Parkdale...competition is fierce in the area now.
Guess he was't meant to last anyways.

To elaborate a bit, the "Parkdale" trademark was applied for by a Jason Mc***** with an address awfully close to the designer highlighted above, but it appears to have expired some time ago. The trademark was to apply to not only beer, but music publishing, pageants, etc. My guess is he tried to trademark Parkdale in hopes of selling off the name for a variety of businesses and events - kinda like cyber squatting.

On the booze end of things, the plan appears to have been -

1: to establish a legit brewery (doubtful),
2: to sell the name, trademark and packaging designs to a prospective brewer/investor (more plausible), or
3: this was a long-term and still somewhat ongoing troll that took way too much time and effort for minimum payoff.

I suspect the 2nd option was the intent but the 3rd option ended up being the result, at least for now. I doubt the artist mentioned above has much to do with this whole saga aside from design.

In the immortal words of someone with far larger debts than me: He had a good run.
