Saison Dupont

Post by AugustusRex »

The Saison Duponts at the LCBO right now have a best before of 05/2017. Last August the best before was 07/2017, so we now have older beer than the last batch. What's the deal?

Does anybody know when Saison Dupont is at its best? I thought the 07/2017 batch tasted great last fall, I don't know how well it holds up after one year has passed.

As long as it's kept out of the sun, that beer is awesome for a long time. I've never had one that I thought was too old.

I was just raving about a 2013 bottle. I buy a case or two and forget it awhile. It's really that kind of "Vieille Provision" beer - meant to survive till you need it.

Thats good to hear, I'll buy a case then. I always hesitate to buy single bottles since they are usually skunked. I always ask them to go grab a couple from the back, and they usually do after a bit of a fight.

I got the 2014 dry-hopped version from Buffalo. Once I got home and figured out the code I realized it was brewed in January. I hope it is still at least as good as the regular version. According to Michael Jackson, all Saison Dupont was dry-hopped until about 20 years ago, it still was a provision beer then.
