This may be a if you see it grab it because you won't get a second chance.
Don't stores only open @ 10am?
Yes but......

When a case comes in put it away for me......

Anyone know how often the newer LCBO website inventory is updated?

damn. i didnt make it today. I work right downtown now so it's a little more out of the way to get to speedvale. stone rd is really lacking lately too.

About 2-3 dozen Orval @ stone Rd as of this morning, as well as a good amount of jacobins

That beer falls off a cliff rather quickly. I wouldn't touch that.

I used to have same opinion due to FOMO disease.
Now I just don't care. If I happen to get to a store that has some of the latest-greatest-must-have, I'll buy some. Otherwise I just keep the credit card in my pocke and wait for the next latest-greatest-must-have beer/Scotch/Bourbon/etc. Stopped by Richmond Hill that was showing 3 online but none on the shelf (prob because they sold a 4-pack as a single). In the past I would have freaked out and spent time with the product consultant to order/transfer some. Yesterday I just picked up a 6-pack of the all day ipa and went my merry way ... :D

Plenty of other great products on the shelf and/or on the way to let FOMO disease take over
Good point, it's tough sometimes not to bite!

Talked to some stores and from what they said its all pretty much gone.

No more on order , none in warehouse , whatever stores have might be there might not, might be on hold, might not.

Grabbed a 4 pack this AM at 401 and Weston. They mentioned it was "scanning wrong" (My guess is they've been given some instructions regarding scanning each bottle individually) but they were starting to clear shelf space for it.

I really like KBS but I don't see any real reason go all #newmoney for this and to hunt down multiple bottles (things sure changed from 10 years ago huh?) but I'm glad to have a couple in the cellar for when the mood strikes me..... unless I trade it all for crazy rare loons.

Managed to get 6 KBS at the Meadowvale store, was their second case, and I think all were spoken for, either way, they seemed to just keeping the case at the service counter instead of shelving them.

Got a four-pack today at Spadina Road and Lonsdale (odd as that is not generally a beer-centric location) and I would estimate there were 8-10 four-packs left; far fewer than the 93 bottles showing on the web site. Of course, if they are ringing four-packs through as singles that could explain the discrepancy. Quite the beguiling beer (my first taste). The aggressive hopping (for a BBA IS) really serves to hide the alcohol well and keep you wanting more. Decided to crack one right away and ended up having two.

I believe the dating format for Orval is Day/Month/Year, making these bottles a bit over 5 months old.

thanks b'n'g! the bottles are 4/10/16 which i took as april 10, but oct 4 is even better, as that will give us more of the range of maturity of the beer so we can compare how it develops over time.
there's an article on the orval site about their brewing process. it doesnt even leave the brewery until 2 months maturity has passed. so we are really only 3 months into the aging process.

I'm one of those weird people who prefer Orval fresh (I still love it with years on it too), so I think it's fantastic right now.

I think this stems from the first time I had it, when I lived in Alberta and was just getting my beer geek on, but no experience and no friends with any knowledge. I remember the first time I had it I was just so blown away by how different it was, and it must have been fresh, as when I have it fresh it reminds me of Alberta. Great beer.
I used to sell beer. Now I don't.

Quite an amazing beer really. One of the few beers that is great both fresh and aged. Are there others in that category?

I got some last night, and also had to check an older bottle to confirm the date format means October.

Had a fresh(er) one last night and did actually enjoy it a lot. So much so that I'm going to have to actually do a side-by-side with some older (2+ years) ones I have to compare. That'll be fun. Great beer to stock up on when it's around. Great price, too.
