Yeah, Avec les Bons Vouex over the Christmas / holiday season (for which it is brewed) is a real treat that I look forward to if I can get my hands on some. Try to save one for then (if you can resist drinking your stash).Esquandolas wrote:Is anyone seeing that Saison Dupont on the shelves yet? I had a bottle of Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux a few weeks ago for the first time and it nearly blew my mind!

Maybe it will show up in September ... just in time for the Fall 2018 release ... and the ones on the fall list will show up in Feb 2019 just in time for the "Winter release" etc, etc, etc...Esquandolas wrote:Still waiting.... This may not mean anything, but they just added Saison Dupont back to the database: here's a link. In my experience, that usually means it's about to roll out to stores sooner rather than later.
Amusingly, they didn't bother deleting (or re-using) last year's database entry, so there's two Saison Duponts listed now (link to the old entry).
Only a 20 cent increase over last year. Still a great price.

RE: Saison Dupont
Thanks, yes I saw that too, and grabbed a bunch last night. It is delicious and a steal at less than $3 per bottle! Not as good as Aves Les Bon Voeix (sp), but still good.

Oh nice...time to stock up on Saison Dupont!
I found some & thought the Saison Dupont might be an old batch because it looked so clear in the bottle. Ha. Probably from sleeping in the warehouse. I swirled the bottles and put them in the fridge.
Just having a small pour, it's delicious in a particular way most imitators are not - an earthy & phenolic spicy profile, sufficiently dry, and the right kind of sweet pale fruit / malt that is never heavy on the palate. It looks so great in the glass. This beer benefits from a hard pour to release some of the ample C02. A bottle-conditioned ale that keeps a very long time.
* Edit * the Bons Voeux 375ml - still very fine also. Taking on a lees-aged complexity, so it's earthy, fruit-sour, dry rich and austerely spicy with a fuller palate, the fruit lending kind of a vinous quality. Might be the last we see of these 'Holiday Tripel' - I like it.

It really is the bar for the style IMO. The bottles I picked up had a fair bit of sediment that settled to the bottom, but as you said a quick swirl and things were looking good again.Belgian wrote:I found some & thought the Saison Dupont might be an old batch because it looked so clear in the bottle. FWIW, a week or two ago I opened a 750ml bottle of Saison Dupont from 2004. Still hugely enjoyable, fresh and lively, even at 14 years old. Orval starts getting tired after 8-10 years, but I think Saison Dupont could go 20+. It will be interesting to see if the smaller 330ml bottles hold up as well.Belgian wrote:A bottle-conditioned ale that keeps a very long time.
Here's to the slow path.
LOL the original name was Brasserie Dupont Vieille Provision. Liquid bread in a time capsule.Wheatsheaf wrote:FWIW, a week or two ago I opened a 750ml bottle of Saison Dupont from 2004. Spoke with Keep 6 this weekend, I don't think theyre the agents for this release. Anyone know who is? Will we ever get the damn thing?
Just grabbed a few Boon Mariage Parfait Kriek at the DanBroad LC. Anyone else excited to try this? *nickelass wrote:Did the Boon Kriek ever hit the shelves?
Also today got multiples of Fullers Imperial Stout (yum), a Spencer Reserve Quad, Ommegang Rosetta (some cherry thing, 'brewed exclusively for Brewery Ommegang by Liefmans') and Shepherd Neame Xmas and Boulevard Whiskey Stout & of course some more Saison Dupont.
* Merry Summer Xmas from the LCBO!
