The Rhino

Post by Tapsucker »

The sad news about Squirlys got me thinking. It's been a while since I've been to the Rhino. I tried to search for a thread on them (I'm sure it exists, but it must be 70 pages deep). Anybody been in a while? How are they doing?

Another soft spot for me. I gotta get out more...

Previously I have never been a fan of The Rhino. I've had some terrible pours there due to likely dirty lines. This past summer I went twice because I happened to be in the area. That issue seems no more. Good clean pours. Good selection. Service was pretty quick inside and on the patio. (Never eaten there.)

I was there last fall for a few beers after a conference thing at the Drake. And I hit the patio (which is probably its highlight) a couple of times over the past few years.

Still seems to be going strong, but not really part of the "beer conversation" in Toronto anymore - but really, who is? They seemed to do more events pre-COVID, but everyone's scaled back.

Their website isn't very up-to-date but their draft list is an untappd feed so it might be current. Still a solid list.

It's a reliable place in my experience and I hope they stick around!
