Biere de Boucanier Golden Ale

Post by boerenkool »

Goofy artwork on the label, looks like done by someone in grade 5
this is the strong beer version - 11% abv
i got it in the gift pack, which contains two each of 11% golden ale, 9% red ale and 7% dark ale,
Anyways...really doesn'y taste like 11%abv, very smooth, no harshness. pours pretty foamy. I used my Chimay glass, hope the monks don't mind me using their glass to drink pirate (bucaneer?) beer.
The label just says made from Malted Barley, no mention of other ingredients, though of course there must be some other ingredients (like water for instance), but it really doesn't taste very hoppy.
It actually made me think of sake, which might seem like an odd comment, but it's a strong fermented grain beverage...very clean taste
Really, I have to say it's quite good overall. I'd buy it again, but it'd be nice to be able to buy it by itself. I haven't yet tried the other two beers that came with it...
