LCBO Winter Release
Arriving in December (or thereabouts):
Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome
Trafalgar Celebration Ale
Okocim Porter
Brakspear Triple
Morland Hen's Tooth
St. Peter's Winter Ale
Fuller's Vintage Ale
Adnams Broadside
XO Beer
Chimay Blue *
Greene King Strong Suffolk *
Innis & Gunn Limited Edition *
* I'd make links for these as well, but the brackets in the Ratebeer url's seem to be interfering with the forum code.

WAY too many Poles in this country to get rid of Okocim so soon, don't worry!
Wish I could get the Pils once in a while. At least we've got WAY too many Czech people here as well so that means good Pils!
The Oc Porter is just a little smokey/sweet for my taste.
As far as what's personally drinkable, I LIKE the Winter ale and the Chimay Bleu is okay if you can't find any Trois Pistoles. And a GOOD handful of newies to try! Not a bad release, since they did go more Belgian on us last year (yummy, hope they will do that again! My stash won't hold out forever.)

I was refering to the LCBO discontinuing it...I see it in regular export to the US these days....as well as Plaone dunkel.GregClow wrote:The last batch was reportedly brewed primarily for export to North America, with the LCBO being the biggest customer. Perhaps the success of that batch convinced them to brew it again.pootz wrote:OKI Porter!!! Time to load up for another year...I thought they discontinued this??
Dunno what's going on here.

I'd assume it may well be this limited http://www.innisandgunn.com/1_year.html from Innis & GunnGregClow wrote:Well. That's a nice looking release if you like English Strong Ales. Which I do, so I'm looking forward to it.
Do you know which Innis & Gunn L.E. it's going to be? I would assume the 2006 IPA, but you never know...
Could be, but they've done three annual limited edition beers - the Blonde Ale listed on their website in 2004, a Scotch Ale in 2005, and an IPA in 2006.Torontoblue wrote:I'd assume it may well be this limited http://www.innisandgunn.com/1_year.html from Innis & GunnGregClow wrote:Well. Perfect for my tastes though Oki P is a Baltic Porter brewed in that tradition which means it is brewed like a thick imperial porter ( approaching stout FG levels) with bottom fermenting lager yeasts and lagering cold conditioning processes.....personally I think the "porter" nomenclature for this beer is a misnomer...it's more like a thick dark DoppelBock than a porter in its character....It's that rich Moravian malt that makes it special!Belgian wrote:

I'm still gonna load up on it becasue this is a long time favorite of mine and it can't be beat as a warming stand alone drink on a cold winter night or as a good accompaniment to roast venison dinner

The list that I got didn't specify any dates, but I'm guessing that both the Innis & Gunn and Fuller's (if it ever gets here) will be the 2006 editions.GregClow wrote:Do you know which Innis & Gunn L.E. it's going to be? I would assume the 2006 IPA, but you never know...
Slightly OT, but I found the following on the LCBO site recently: Beer and Special Markets Needs Plan 2006-07 (pdf, 65KB)
It's an interesting read...

All that "aluminum can preferred" shit made me sad.Wheatsheaf wrote:The list that I got didn't specify any dates, but I'm guessing that both the Innis & Gunn and Fuller's (if it ever gets here) will be the 2006 editions.GregClow wrote:Do you know which Innis & Gunn L.E. it's going to be? It was definitely a painful read. Every day I get closer and closer to not bothering with the LCBO.Andicus wrote:Especially when reading about the Spirit and Wine Coolers:DragonOfBlood wrote:All that "aluminum can preferred" shit made me sad.
Unique, trendy, unconventional formats.
Environmentally friendly packaging preferred.
Products that capitalize on hot trends.

Definitely agreed. I already avoid The Beer Store like the plague, I can only assume I'll be doing the same in the future with the LCBO.Stomp Brockmore wrote:I would say that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.
I'd much rather just save up and make a daytrip across the border.
