The French have "wankers in wine-making" like anyplace else, it is true... Borgougne is especially screwed for pricing and the El Cee Be Oh! usually buys all the wanker wines from Burgundy - it's a small region and competent agents from all countries actually go after the good stuff - actively pre-buying it - and whatever people don't want, the vintners approach the passive lazy LCBO who consider the exorbitant markup potential of shitty French pinot noir in the Ontario market. Well it's not completely shitty but it's certainly table wine-grade stuff, not the good burgundy and not worth 16-20 bucks.

I'm drinking Rasteau Ortas Prestige 2005 CDR Villages from the Rhone and it's good, deep dark cherry fruit and high-palate acidty and some spice. Wines from the Southwest and Midi and Rhone and Provénce represent some better values.

Where did yu pick that one up? I am interested.l

Hey! I've got that one in my fridge right now! Glad to hear that its good. The Paradox Grain is also a nice offering from them if you've not tried that one yet.

No I haven't yet, I looked for it but couldn't find it

I see R&R is carrying Brewdog now, so hopefully we can get a few cases in but I not sure about their supply, I think they only brew a little of it.

Made the trip into TO last night (unfortunately, one day early for the ST release) and picked up County Durham Signature Ale based on things I've read on The Bar Towel. Drinking my first now and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement. I love West Coast PA's and this, in my opinion, competes with Church Key's for best in province. Would be my new session beer if only I could get it in the Hammer. Yum.

It's pretty damn good. The LCBO carries it, so if you can't get it in your area, ask them to transfer some stock.

Pulled a 14 month old Rochefort 8 out of the cellar (okay...storage locker). Its aging quite well, and the sweetness has almost dropped out completely, giving it an oaky vinous character. Its becoming very dry too...almost like Orval. I wonder how my St Bernardus are aging? This is the problem I've found with a cellar...curiosity.

My quest to find ST IPA in the Waterloo Region was fruitless on the day, however, I picked up a sixer of King Brewery's Pilsener, which I can only assume is from the first big batch of the stuff for the summer. Daaaaaaaaaamn this stuff is good fresh! Like, wow, seriously, really good.

yesterday I sipped on a Dieu Du Ciel Corne Du Diable, was a fantastic beer, as well as a St. Arnould P'tit Train du Nord (one of my favorite beers right now.
