Yeah, I was talking with Peter from Esprit a few months ago, and he told me that the LCBO rejected it this year for the first time in ages, with the usual no reason given. Quite a shock to me (and him, obviously), as it's become a bit of a tradition.

I thought the same thing, but that's what it says on the LCBO spreadsheet for this release. Possibly a typo.

It cellars well for two years, so I've been doing verticals of the consecutive three years in a row. The 06/07 was great, so I'm still looking forward to seeing how it has aged. If anyone gets their hands on an 08/09 bottle, I'd be happy to do a tasting with mine from the last two years!

I'll keep my eye out for it on my Boston travels. Although I have no idea if it gets distributed round those parts.

I believe PM wasn't brewing it with them last year at Heritage, they simply did a fine job just from Perry's recipe. Should be a repeatable success.

Great list!

And a great posting with all the links, as always Greg. Always appreciated. Though 3.7% wouldn't make it a very Strong ale, would it? :)

It's more like a 6% beer. I guess the monkeys at the Board were giving Greg the info about the new releases!!!

Actually, that was a typo on my part. The info I got from the LCBO rep I deal with didn't include alc %, I grabbed it from RateBeer.

Just to confirm RE: Samuel Smith Winter Welcome.

I'm told that It will not being included in the seasonal beer program this year as already stated. However, it will be available as part of the Samuel Smith’s Holiday gift pack. The idea was to give another specialty beer exposure in the seasonal program but still make the Winter Welcome available via the gift pack program.

Sweet. Maybe they tossed the nut brown 'cause it's now a regular? The pale ale is mediocre, but the oatmeal stout is nice.

Anyway, I like that Samuel Smith glass, but I doubt I'll buy multiples of that one this year.

Winter Welcome is not part of the gift pack...it is, once again, Nut Brown, Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout. The decision to not buy WW is very perplexing to us as it has been a perennial best seller for 15 years...oh well, their call asks for beers with a good history of sales in this and other markets...apparently selling well in Ontario for 15 years means nothing now.

The Trafalgar Belgian Spiced (IF very fresh) is sort of Rochefort-like, only it's half as powerful tasting as the Roche 6.

Nice cheap beer to chug back you're outdoors, shovelling snow with tunes on the iPod...

The Creemore urBock has just hit shelves. I picked up a sixer at the Princess Walk LCBO, dated Oct. 11.
