Less tickets available = greater entry cost. Don't forget that the price of beer has risen since the last festival, have as other costs. Still a fair price in my book, though I would prefer to see a lower entry fee and no sample tickets included in the price. Still, it's all swings and roundabouts in the endGedge wrote:Wow. $35. Wasn't it $20 when it started?

It was $25 last year. $35 is still a bargain, considering Ralph has to shut the restaurant down to hold this fest. I think he's lost money on it every year and I've been telling him to up the price. This is a small price to pay for an awesome festival.

But you know to well that people aren't happy unless they are bitching and complaining about something. Just wait until they realise there are no tables outside this year; what will the ratebeerians do?viggo wrote:Gedge wrote:Wow. $35. Wasn't it $20 when it started?

Laugh at the drunk regulars? Cry with the beer advocate folks because we both have nowhere to rate? Complain with the bartowel trolls? Enjoy and support the fest and volo like we have from day one? Many possibilities!Just wait until they realise there are no tables outside this year; what will the ratebeerians do?
It's fair comment as far as I'm concerned. The whole "if you don't like it don't go" bit doesn't wash with me.Torontoblue wrote:But you know to well that people aren't happy unless they are bitching and complaining about something. I *AM* one of those early lineup crazies! hehe. Or at least I was last year. I am probably picking up tickets for a few friends as well as myself, but can probably swing a few more.lister wrote:Like last year, I'm willing to purchase one or two tickets for others but keep in mind I'm not one of those early lineup crazies.
PM me if you need a ticket. If theres more than a handful of people priority will go to those who can get me the cash in advance and/or those willing to bribe me with cheese samples

Are you saving your money for all the other cask festivals here?Gedge wrote:It's fair comment as far as I'm concerned. I dunno - how 'bout the C'est What's Festival of Small Breweries. Though not a cask fest, admission is free and samples are a buck apiece.viggo wrote:

Listen, I don't want to get into Buju territory here, but this kind of take it and shut up rhetoric is all too common with any niche group of enthusiasts/obsessives. On the one hand you get the "I've been part of the craft beer scene since you were in diapers, so your opinion just doesn't carry as much weight as mine" song and dance. And the other old chestnut is "How could you possibly question the price of this rare vintage or event? You are obviously not as dedicated in your pursuit of craft beer as the rest of us here and, again, your opinion is neglible."
You can substitute record collecting, vintage cars, wine and on and on where I've said "craft beer" - it's always the same.
Anyway, I will almost certainly go to Cask Days. I still don't see anything wrong with asking why the price has gone up 75% in such a short span of time.
