Hi Gang, I know this isn't a new beer (obviously), but I scrolled through this forum and noticed no one had posted about it yet, so I'm getting up on my soap box.

I am a die hard Canadian and in some ways I feel bad about about saying this but.... Sam Adams Boston Lager is my favorite (-readily accessible-) bottled beer!

I'm a big fan of hops (more aroma hops & hop flavor, dry hopping, etc as opposed to bittering hops added earlier in the process), American Style Pale Ales and the like. I do also enjoy IPA's but they're just a little too far on the IBU scale for me, I typically like something a little more balanced... I've tried pretty much every Pale Ale that I can get my hands on, but enevitably I come back to my good old Sammy's.

I'd like to get some conversation and hear what others here think of this beer, sort of validate my enjoyment of this beer and also get some other suggestions...

I have tried and really enjoyed Black Oak's Pale Ale, I thought Niagara Fall's Pale Ale as magnificent too, but unfortunately the Beer Stores in my area don't carry these, so I really should try getting out to the beer stores in Oakville instead.

I can't WAIT to try Mill St.'s Pale Ale - If you've seen my posts in the other topics you'll know this already

Cheers!

I'm really not a huge fan of the Sam Adams lager...but then again I like a more assertively hopped beer. There's unfortunately not a lot of pale ales in the local market place I'd bend over backwards to recommend with the exception of Mill Street and St.Ambroise (which might even be too hoppy for you). You might also like the Liberty Ale from Anchor which I find far superior to S.A. and more complex (but again a fair bit hoppier but still under 40 IBU I'm certain). Black Oak is reasonable but not fantastic. As far as lagers go I'd be way more likely to have Creemore that S.A. any day of the week.

I would also add that the beer store just isn't a place where I buy beer anymore...try the L.C.B.O. in your region that carries products like the Anchor beers and the new Mill Street offerings which won't even be sold through the B.S.

for what it is and who makes it I think the boston lager is a really good beer, especially if you can get it fresh. if I'm in a bar that has a bunch of macro crap and sam adams, I'll usually get that.

I've only had it once on tap in Toronto and that was like 4 years ago - I've never seen it otherwise - Do you know anyplace that has it on tap now?

I've had it at the oliver and bonacini cafe and bar at bayview village, at the jack astors at mccowan and the 401, and a couple other places that don't come to mind right now.
