A local business has brewed its last bottle of beer.
The Great White North Craft Brewery, makers of Port Arthur Pale Ale has closed its doors.
Large tanks and other equipment were removed from the Red River Road location Monday.
The facility was turning out the beer for a little more than a year. It was sold in various local pubs as well as the LCBO, but local owner Geoff Schmidt said there just wasn't enough sales to support the business.
The beer was a more expensive than most brands, but when Schmidt opened the brewery he said he hoped consumers would buy it for the taste, not for the price.
I had heard a rumour a couple of months ago that this was in the forecast. Too bad.
