Currently on a business trip just outside of Detroit...so hitting the beer fairly hard. Used ratebeer to get an idea of decent Michigan beer...and picked up a bunch of Bells...great stuff...so far have had:

Bells Kalamazoo Stout: nummy...reminds me of St. Ambroise
Bells Pale Ale: Just average...the most disappointing.
Bells Third Coast Old Ale: probably my best experience with a barley wine yet. Great.
Great Lakes Eliot Ness: Ok...from Ohio...but one of the better Amber's I've ever had.

Still have to "sample":
Bells Expedition Stout
Bells Porter
Dark Horse Reserve Special Black Bier

Jealous?

You're on a working trip to the armpit of the north east...not much to envy about that.

There are some really good beer stores down there though. I stopped into one in suburban Detroit a year and a half ago and found a great selection of stuff.

Ya ya...I wasn't talking about being jealous about being in Detroit...the home of scarily bland suburban america...it's all about the beer...smartasses.

As opposed to the GTA, the home of scarily bland suburban Canada?

Naive as I may be...I'd like to think that I can sense a pulse in the GTA? Maybe?

Why didn't you pick up some Bell's Two Hearted smart guy? You're not dressed to impress if you forget your underwear.

Salut,
Jeff

Good hunting! While you're at it, try and find some Bell's Batch 6000. This is a one time only release of a barley wine. Then the jealousy might start showing.

Jeff
