Does anyone have any input on their beers or do they produce anything worth talking about?
Haven't heard much talk about these guys.

Stay far, far away from the Robinson's Black Cherry Ale. The most foul beer I've ever put in my mouth. EVER. Imagine cherry cough syrup that's gone horribly bad.

Gotta agree with Blankboy on the Black Cherry. It's some nasty-ass stuff.

The only other Robinson beer I've tried is St. George, which is a surprisingly decent Pale Ale.

The Robinson's Red is pretty good too, don't think of it as a Ricard's clone, it's much more flavorful.

The St. George (a.k.a the Dragon Slayer) was intended to be the new Dragon's Breath Pale Ale after the Guinness Co. forced Hart to stop producing it a few years ago. - Robinson's & Hart had a sort of partnership going, they'd share booths at Beer Festivals & stuff like that... Anyhow, I didn't find the St. George to be anywhere near as good as Dragon's Breath... I rarely purchase any Robinson's products anymore, despite that I live in Mississauga, and it being the only half-decent craft brewer in Mississauga. I prefer Black Oak & Trafalgar's products from Oakville...

I'm not sure if it's been posted here yet but Robinson's has been bought and the new owners seem to be putting in a solid effort.

Then they'll want to make sure that some of us get a chance to try their stuff out. It's not exactly widely available. From the old era, a well-kept St. George was good but nothing else from them impressed me much.

Anyone know who the new owners are and if they are going to continue brewing in the same place? Was it purchased by someone actually interested in brewing or by another brewery interested in eliminating yet another small guy - similar to Amerdam buying and closing the Peterborough KLB brewery?

I believe i heard rumblings about the new owner taking some brewing courses so it sounds like they are serious about running the place.

I have met a couple of the guys and they're pretty eager to get things going and growing.

I've stopped there a couple of times and picked up some of their beers – about a half dozen different types.

I found them, in general, tasty enough. Nothing that was unpalatable and couple of them quite interesting. Quite tasty hops in some of them. And all of them enjoying the virtue of being deliciously fresh.

Worth a try if nothing else. Support your local brewer and all that. I'd serve these to guests before the run of the mill macro stuff.

I was introduced to a Robinson's rep at Ciro's tonight. Friendly chap named Dennis (I think... I'm lousy with names!).

Bar Towel was mentioned, and Dennis said something to the effect that he'd heard Robinson's had become the latest "victim" on the forum here. We had a bit of a laugh about that, and he said that he'll probably be coming by for the pub night on the 18th.

He also mentioned that they're in the middle of making a ginger beer for C'est What. Hopefully, it'll be a better experiment than the Black Cherry...
