Scenario: Locating an LCBO employee
Scenario: Locating an LCBO employee
Here's the scenario:
You walk into an LCBO and you're looking for the latest release. The inventory shows the store has what you need but it's not on display. You need to track someone down to give you a hand. Unfortunately the customer service desk is empty. There's an employee at the cash with a string of 8 people waiting. Occasionally an employee walks past at light speed towards a different section of the store, but when you get there, they are gone.

Pick up a bottle of really, really expensive wine. Casually stroll up to the back of the line at the cash. Clear your throat. Yell "HE'S GOT A GUN!", as you push the person in front of you into the person in front of them. Dive behind the nearest counter or isle. If you haven't got the attention of the store employee's yet, yell from your place of safety/hiding "FIRE IN THE HOLE", and then throw the wine over the counter/isle like a grenade. If you have to resort to throwing the bottle, make sure to tuck and roll to another safe spot, so as to avoid detection as the obvious source of everything. At this point you're going to want to work your way towards the back of the store, as close to the backroom as possible, though no matter what you do, DO NOT breach this line of safety for the LCBO employee's, you'll only be earning their suspicion and probably contempt. If need be, and especially if you have a talent for sound-effects, pretend that you're being attacked and that you are fighting off the elusive man with a gun. Now, this is likely the best time to jump up from wherever you are and yell "ALL CLEAR!". Chances are by now you've at least garnered attention from the cashier, who may or may not know where your beer is (they usually don't).
I've used this method before with mixed results.

Other than the vacuous and puerile suggestions already mentioned, you do have a few realistic options.
I think your best bet would be one of two things:
1) Get in line and when it is your turn, simply let the cashier know that you need help on the floor. He/she will ring a buzzer for help, and someone should be there to help you in a moment.
2) Get the attention of said cashier without waiting in line and let him/her know that you need help on the floor. He/she will buzz for help and it shouldn't take long to get someone out to see you.
I can't speak to each store so of course experiences may differ, but this is what should happen. Naturally, we do have other work to do that is secondary to serving customers. This is because the customer is #1. This stuff includes stock, cleaning, ordering, setting up displays, making price tags (an arduous task for a store with 1000+ skus), organizing tastings, and many other tasks. But anyone in the middle of any of these should be able to help you, and at the very least, the manager should come out to help you.

Yes, each till has a buzzer underneath it that is heard throughout the entire store.
So, most stores use the same codes:
1 buzz= manager
2 buzz= cashier
3 buzz= carry out or customer service
4 buzz= suspected thief or sketchy customer in the store

Sam, if you're suggesting that the beer guy cam out to help you , and had a "buzz' from consuming alcohol, I can only tell you that with every job comes its perks. Obviously he is a very lucky beer guy.northyorksammy wrote:i've had them buzz for the beer guy, and after a couple tries he came out...buzzed
