Most of my favourites have been mentioned. I have (and still haven't tried) Old Rasputin and Stone Imperial Stout... might try them this winter.

A couple Quebec favourites that have not yet been mentioned...

Charlevoix Vache Folle Imperial Milk Stout
Microbrasserie de l'Ile d'Orleans Jean Dit Laforge (cocao & vanilla imperial stout)

Is Expedition hard to find? My girlfriend is studying in Kalamazoo right now and will be visiting me over the American thanksgiving weekend. Hoping to have her bring me a few treats from Bell's.

I've tried a few of the other St Peters beers and the only one I really like is the Cream Stout. Very tasty.

Recently i have went through a few Bell's Stouts and found they all had a funky sour after taste. Not sure if they were all old, or if that was their style. (Java, Kalamazoo, Cherry and Special Double Cream stout)

Did you taste the cherry first? It's pretty tart, so I could see it affecting the others if you sampled them all in one sitting, but that is just a guess. They put the batch number on every bottle which you can look up on their website to see when it was produced.

In my opinion, Bell's makes a variety of awesome stouts, and all are quite different. Two Hearted has never done it for me, but I'm clearly an exceptional to the rule.

Started to reply a while back and realised all my favourite 'stouts' were all porters!!!

So, Stouts would be:

Wolaver's Organic Oatmeal
Ipswich Oatmeal
Titanic
Pike Extra Stout
Young's Double Chocolate (before they screwed the recipe)
Durham Black Katt
Ten Fidy
Green Flash Imperial
Lagunitas Imperial
and most recently
Pelican Tsunami
Marin's San Quentin Break Out

It's strange that there aren't many English stouts on my list. It was a style that very rarely showed up in my 18 years of living in the UK!!!

I'd love to go back and taste the Conner's stout that I was into almost 20 years ago.

Also, A Le Coq has a great general production stout on tap in a lot of places in Estonia. As good as the historic re-brew they've been praised for is, this day to day offering is really good too. Last I checked, their excellent porter gets bottled. Maybe some agency will make a few calls...

I find it odd that Stouts and Imperial Stouts are being inter-mixed in this thread. To me you can't possibly compare a stout to a RIS.

My favourite stouts are:

Sierra Nevada Stout
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout
Mill Street Cobblestone Stout
Bell's Kalamazoo Stout

My favourite Imperial Stouts are:

Founders Imperial Stout
Founders KBS
Founders Breakfast Stout
Peche Mortel
St. Ambroise RIS
Goose Island BCBCS
Anything from the Great Divide Yeti Series
