2008 Samuel Smith Imperial Stout.

The roasted malt is even more subdued allowing the other malt & fruit flavours to come through. Incredible flavour for a modest 7%. Great stuff.

Man, I miss Bell's. When I was in Ontario, I'd pop down to K-zoo to see friends and pick up sixes of Two Hearted, Hopslam and Expedition.

Having a Pliny the Elder right now. Bottled on Nov 11th. Damn, this is the shit! Honestly, only Hopslam competes with this for straight up enjoyment in my eyes.

I found it quite enjoyable for a low ABV session EPA. Nice leafy, tea-like flavours from the hops with some caramel sweetness. Not really that bitter if you ask me.

I found that to be just a slightly above average example of the style. It is one of the few (maybe the only) SN offering that hasn't met my expectations.

I agree fully on Tumbler. SN's beers generally are full flavoured and complex: I found this beer, sampled on draft twice, the opposite.

Drinking now Mommesin's Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau just out. There's been a fashion in recent years to knock Beaujolais Nouveau, and sometimes that is justified when the stuff is raw and unformed, but this current one is excellent. BV is one of the best crus from the region in my experience, so that helps perhaps, but so does Mommesin's expertise. This wine has a full flavour with some of the fresh fermented quality of Nouveau, but nothing harsh or obtrusive. Bing cherry, light black pepper, dryish yet full. Excellent new wine and well worth $15.00.

Drinking a Great Lakes Aces High IPA. A very good IPA. If you like hop-forward IPAs, you'll like this one...
